چکیده

It is known that carbon nanotubes have impressive mechanical properties and it is thought that one of the best ways to realize them is to incorporate nanotubes into composites. The highest levels of stiffness and strength are obtained for composites with the reinforcing fibers aligned in one direction. It has also been recognized that for any nanocomposite to realize its full potential in terms of mechanical properties, the nanophase has to be well-dispersed. Hence, the isolation of the nanotubes and their alignment are critical in the development of these potentially useful materials.

Porous silica spheres in macroporous structures and on nanofibres.

Porous nanospheres have a wide range of applications such as in catalysis, separation and controlled delivery. Among these nanospheres, syntheses and applications of porous silica nanospheres have been investigated extensively. Uniform porous silica nanospheres can be synthesized using a modified Stöber method. In the present study, porous silica spheres were prepared in the pre-formed emulsion...

Magnetoelectric CoFe2O4/polyvinylidene fluoride electrospun nanofibres.

Magnetoelectric 0-1 composites comprising CoFe2O4 (CFO) nanoparticles in a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer-fibre matrix have been prepared by electrospinning. The average diameter of the electrospun composite fibres is ∼325 nm, independent of the nanoparticle content, and the amount of the crystalline polar β phase is strongly enhanced when compared to pure PVDF polymer fibres. The piezo...

Effect of supramolecular structure on polymer nanofibre elasticity.

Polymer materials of reduced size and dimensionality, such as thin films, polymer nanofibres and nanotubes, exhibit exceptional mechanical properties compared with those of their macroscopic counterparts. We discuss here the abrupt increase in Young's modulus in polymer nanofibres. Using scaling estimation we show that this effect occurs when, in the amorphous (non-crystalline) part of the nano...

Fullerene C60 and its derivatives as nanocomposites in polymer nanofibres

This work describes the application of oxo-derivatives of fullerene C60 and pristine fullerene as a nanocomposite in polymerous nanofibres. In this work we used oxofullerene derivative, of which preparation was presented by the authors of the State office for nuclear safety (Prague) on Nanocon 2009 and on Nanocon 2010 [1, 2]; there was presented its application in vivo as a radioprotective agen...

Coarse-Grained Simulations of Model Polymer Nanofibres

We describe the development of a coarse-grained (CG) force field for nylon-6 (polycaprolactam) and its application to the simulation of the structure and macromolecular dynamics within cylindrical fibres formed by this polymer, having diameters in the 14–28nm range. Our CG model is based on the MARTINI force field for the non-bonded interactions and on Boltzmanninverted gas-phase atomistic simu...
